Expansion joints

The place of use determines the design.

The best composite technology available is a KOREMA® patent

The exact design of the expansion joint is determined by its place of use. The basic shapes are round, square or oval. Expansion joints with variable cross-sections are also used. In addition to the basic designs, KOREMA® is also able to manufacture special types that are precisely tailored to specific customer requirements.
KOREMA® expansion joints are sandwich-type: Textile reinforcement, elastomers and foils are tightly processed with the aid of special adhesives and vulcanized in the fastening areas.
KOREMA® expansion joints are always the first choice because they have outstanding properties:

  • Thermal insulation
  • Vibration damping
  • Acoustic damping
  • best quality

The main technical objective of the expansion joint for gases is to meet the criterion of flue gas tightness with the lowest possible restoring force.

Expansion joint types

Belt type

KOREMA® tape types are particularly suitable for pipe joints with large duct dimensions. They can also be supplied with optional pre-insulation to reduce the temperature. The same applies to particularly dust-laden media. Deliveries with corner radii can be pre-formed at the factory.

Open, prepared joint
KOREMA® expansion joints are bonded on site. The special KOREMA® adhesives required for this are supplied.
Pre-assembled and ready-to-install units are available with the corresponding complete steel parts. Installation is simplified thanks to perforated versions on one side.

Easy to handle
Storage guidelines and installation instructions are included with every expansion joint. Open hinge versions can be closed directly on site by the KOREMA® installation service. Installation instructions in pictogram form can be found here!

U-type

KOREMA® U-type expansion joints are the most frequently chosen variant. They are also called “flange type” because the expansion joint is flanged between two pipe or duct ends.

The design of the flange depends on the existing system, the customer’s specifications or the steel structure provided by the customer. Pre-insulation or protection against dust-laden media is also possible with this type.

An additional elastomer flange cover gasket ensures drip-tightness if the temperature falls below the dew point.
The matching steel accessories are available in a pre-assembled version on request. Steel baffle plates and backing flanges in steel and stainless steel are available as steel parts (see materials).

Special shapes

If you require special shapes, we can supply these in the same quality – for example, if you need to connect round and square pipes. Due to their special shape and precision, these types of fabric expansion joints are mainly made to model shapes. They are manufactured individually according to the customer’s specifications and requirements.

Everything from a single source

Your advantage: With KOREMA® you get everything from a single source. Thanks to our own steel construction, our own joinery and decades of experience, we can also produce individual special shapes with precision.
All conceivable shapes that can be formed on models with mesh can be produced.
Another advantage: since everything is under one roof, we not only deliver individually, but also particularly promptly.

Made to measure

We manufacture your expansion joints according to your specifications if required:

  • Bellows with or without reinforcement
  • Disc-shaped versions
  • Design cross-section changing
  • Round on square/oval versions
  • Designs according to drawing
  • Non-standardized high-temperature gaskets

Service

Shape-protecting packaging

Once KOREMA® expansion joints have been professionally installed at their destination, they provide years of reliable service.
The expansion joints are products that can react sensitively to improper handling during transportation and installation. For this reason, they are supplied in form-protecting packaging that reliably protects them from damage.

Assembly at the end

If possible, KOREMA® expansion joints should only be installed at the end of the installation work on the pipes.

“General guidelines for storage and assembly”

These instructions contain the storage and installation instructions for maintaining the function of KOREMA® fabric expansion joints. You will receive useful tips on handling the products to be installed in the form of pictograms.

The KOREMA® installation instructions are currently available in 5 languages.
